Emergency Related Sick Leave (ERSL)
The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) requires certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) administers and enforces the new law’s paid leave requirements. These provisions will apply from the effective date through December 31, 2020.
There are 3 types of Paid Time Off (PTO) because of COVID-19:
- ERSL: Emergency related sick leave of 2 weeks
- ERSL: Dependent sick at 2/3 rate
- FMLA: Expansion pay for weeks 3-12
This presentation is not intended to give you any direction as to which PTO types you are required to include in the EBMS Payroll system. We recomend that you contact your business consultant, accountant, or payroll processor to verify how or what you need to change in EBMS.
